12 hour konk

Streaming the new Robert Pollard after a twelve-hour konk. was down for a while but now it's back with a fine shot of yours truly as a Star Trek engineer. That was for the Activator gig where I got killed before the second commercial break. We have five working mixes of the new record. Thursday's show at Luckey's w/ Pearls and Brass & Mill Race was really great. Seeing Eugene people get into Mill Race was cool. They played mostly new songs...the americana Ubu/Devo factor in full swing. Arrangements deft with kooky bursts of noise. Awesome. Pearls and Brass was heavy, epic, a solid wall of riffage and fuzz rock with amazing complexity, changing time signatures. Double this up with the Dead Meadow record and you got your fix. I'm reading Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. This is a funny and informative book about the history of the study of anatomy (ouch!), embalming, crash test studies, and so forth. Tim Neun gave me this book. Figures!
