This is Meat Puppets video Ed Cole took last night at the Wow Hall. It was a fantastic show. Curt came out with a jumbo Gibson acoustic and the kind of small, indestructable Peavey guitar amp your cousin probably borrowed indefinitely from the church choir...and proceded to erect, out of thin air, large psychedelic temples of painterly skronk and strum. I have never seen anything like that. It was absurd. And it was good to see the Meat Puppets be absurd (absurdly good, too) after seeing them be a heavy (heavy good) rock band in the 80's and 90's. And it was the best to see Cris playing bass again with his eyes crossing and his head bouncing around like some kind of crazy kung fu master who defeats his enemies with a live chicken in one hand and a whisk in the other. All of a sudden, after twenty five years, they are still the only band I would follow around and see multiple times. I used to dig the ashes out of the grocery store incinerator listening to them on a boom box. It was hot. It was the 'burbs. And so I got a guitar.
