I was looking for titles by a couple of authors in the business and self-improvement sections at a bookstore yesterday when I saw someone I’ve seen before in warm, well-lit public places. She usually has a tattered book open and sleeps with her bags piled up around her.
Yesterday she was asleep in a chair by a column between Business and Self-improvement. A book by one of the authors I was interested in was on the floor at her feet, and a book I hadn’t heard of lay open on her lap: How To Work A Room.
Today I read that Ram Dass died and I saw one of his great quotes:
Treat everyone you meet as if they are God in drag.
