20TH CENTURY WOMEN @ SCREENLAND ARMOUR

We went to one of my favorite places on earth last night, Screenland Armour, and saw 20th Century Women.  Every frame felt personal to me.  When my sister Amy took me and some other 15 year-olds to see Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense at The Antioch Theater, we danced in the aisles.

No one beat us up for liking Talking Heads.  The difference between 1979 and 1984, and the translation of culture from west coast to midwest, smoothed some of that tension out, or lowered the stakes in some way.  But gender and masculinity were still issues, front and center.
