ERIK THE CONQUEROR ON #FILMSTRUCK

My saturday re-charge included a viewing of Mario Bava's Erik The Conqueror, in which Vikings attack England and England attacks Vikings, and history is a play-toy to be gnawed upon like a dog's slobbery tennis ball.  It was great!  Bava did all sort of cool effects on a low budget, with great flair and silliness.  The climbing ladder of arrows (an archer-coordinated gymnasium peg wall, basically) was nifty, and the Vikings inner chamber had a mammoth gnarly sculpted foam tree that was probably the film's biggest budget item.

I'm mainlining Kaopectate and snorting crushed Pepto Bismal pills after the Chiefs loss, but we did get to see St. Vincent at The Uptown.  It was pretty spectacular, kind of Prince, kind of Kraftwerk, kind of Lady Gaga, not like any show I've ever seen.
