RECHARGE SATURDAY

Recharge Saturday Run Down:

* Slept really late
* Got hair cut by my buddy Joe at Mr B's on Broadway.
* Stopped at Broadway Butcher for a whole chicken and a couple of linguica sausages to make a pot of spicy chicken soup.  I poached the sausage in white wine and orange juice and cumin and added it to the chicken pot later.
* Stopped at It's A Beautiful Day to browse the vinyl.  I found a copy of Donna Summer's Bad Girls for $1.99 which was cool.  She was a great artist and those records with Georgio Moroder are pop classics.  Then I felt a semi-religious impulse to kneel down and flip through the floor stacks under the New Arrivals and found a nice copy of Behind The Parade by Tommy Keene.  This was one of those magic record store moments that felt really personal.  The records smelled like incense when I got them home.
* Stopped at Brady's on Troost to read When All Else Fails by Howard Libes and enjoy the crab cake salad for lunch.
* Worked on soup, listened to records, read more of my book, took a nap.
* Ate soup, read book
* Watched Exiled, another Hong Kong action flick directed by Johnnie To, with the same cadre of cool gangsters including the cerebral and soulful bad-ass Anthony Chau-Sang Wong.  He and Alfred Molina should make a buddy film where they have shoot outs in libraries. Filmstruck has two Johnnie To films--wish there were more.
