BRING BACK IRON FIST PLEASE
I watched the finale of Season 2 of Marvel's Iron Fist on Netflix last night, knowing that Season 3 got canned due to low viewership. Bummer, because they really put together a strong second season with lively cliffhanger plotlines and cool new developments.
A lot of folks bag on this show but it is kind of my favorite of the Marvel shows on Netflix. It's remarkable that the dragon power was transferred to a female character (maybe when it became clear the show wasn't doing so well) after the Iron Fist we all know (Danny Rand) was humbled, beat up like a mofo, and kind of lost.
How many super hero shows show a young couple figuring things out together who exchange super powers, and then break up? They're warriors but also sharing an apartment and figuring out dinner. That is trippy and cool and of a certain cultural moment.
Danny's earnestness and piety was a laugh for many viewers but I thought it kind of fit with his age and the path he was on. (like the really irritating early Luke Skywalker). The fact that he had been trained as a warrior in the lost world of Kunlun, earned wild powers through ritual and martial contest, and couldn't quite get in step--that made alot of sense.
So I hope Netflix and Disney resurrect this show--not the greatest show, kind of a popcorn kung fu show at times, but one that I dig.
