LIVE ALBUM UPDATE: SERVE WITHOUT DELAY

SERVE WITHOUT DELAY, our live album of NEW songs, is now available as a download included with purchase of our 2020 vinyl LP, WE LIVE IN A WORLD THAT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD, on Bandcamp.

SERVE WITHOUT DELAY includes 14 live tracks and 7 home recordings. On Bandcamp Friday February 5th we'll release the collection for stand-alone digital purchase.

Why?

In 2020 we didn't get to play out much, so we hunkered down and worked up a double album's worth of new tunes. It was a yearlong, weekly woodshed-workshop resilience practice that culminated with a live-streamed show on 11/13 at KCMO's recordBAR.

While we'd prefer to release this on LP, the spirit of the release is...SERVE WITHOUT DELAY. So we'll greet you and 2021 with this imperfectly perfect blast of power trio post punk rock and roll, and go from there.

Sound good?

2020 album review from THE BIG TAKEOVER:

dan jones & the squids
we live in a world that is out of this world
(Daily)

Jones is among the hardworking lifers with taste and talent, keeping the dream alive that music matters. This is the Kansas City singer/songwriter’s seventh LP over two decades, starting in Eugene, OR before returning to his native, non-coastal home. His bio speaks of support gigs with Mike Watt (who plays these Squids on his radio show), Dinosaur Jr., Steve Wynn, John Doe, Tav Falco, Pedaljets, Peter Case, and Minus 5, all hinted at in his fine music. But what he/they most remind of is Watt’s influence The Urinals/100 Flowers, in the way he breaks out homey tunes in the rush of spikier energy—like “My Favorite Lounge,” which spits guitar glory with gusto following tight circular riffs, while hailing soulful, sweaty dives with honest bands. It’s where you’d want to catch Jones and his cephalopods, happily blasting away. (danjones1.bandcamp.com)
