100 DAY POSTCARD CHALLENGE, DAY 100: STAND GOURD AGAINST MORAL ROT
Day 100 of 100 Day Postcard Challenge:
Stand Gourd Against Moral Rot
Well, here it is, design 100, and a really bad pun to boot. I know everyone is full of bumpkin pie and this is really pushing it.
Anyone has any ideas about my next challenge, I am all ears.
100 days is really long. I was thinking maybe:
21 Day Poem Challenge
21 Day YouTube Live Acoustic Challenge (one song a day)
21 Day Prose Paragraph Challenge 
21 Day Print/Plot Sticker Design Challenge
What have I learned?
It is fun to take the plunge every day without any big agenda. This is true in song and in poetry, too.
My graphic design skills are super primitive. Increased respect for actual skilled designers.
Tracing over photographs is fun and a valid way to make an image.
Importing vectors is fair play.
"I can't draw" has turned into "I CAN draw, but not all that great."
Photoshop Express filters are FUN.
There are still MANY brushes to explore and play with in Adobe Fresco.
I want to learn more about making pattern files--it's a technical skill and I don't got it yet, other than using Redbubble's patterning tools or Adobe Capture.
I do NOT understand masking functions in Adobe apps. It confuses me, still.
I'm kind of still afraid of criticism but would like to take some classes and have an art mentor.
I'm not worried about staying engaged and creative in retirement.
Selling shirts, cards, and masks on Redbubble tickles me a great deal. It's no way to get rich but it's a great way to see what is appealing, and put stuff out there without wrassling with subcontract printing, inventory, and fulfillment/shipping.

100 DAY POSTCARD CHALLENGE, DAY 65: BRIGHT BLINDS & LAND SPEED FRAMPTON
I made a point of picking up the new Young Fresh Fellows for Record Store Day yesterday. I've found some good stuff this year--I always keep a Spotify list of my year's favorites, old or new.
I haven't had many outings in the last three weeks, spending my time in the barrel with Covid-19. I was lucky to have mild symptoms: fatigue, loss of taste and smell, headache, unpleasant gut like a MAGA rally in my GI, and more fatigue. A day of work-from-home plus a short dog walk would knock me out by 7:00. A lap around Loose Park or a trip to The Vinyl Underground in the last few days counts as Big Doin's.
Speaking of big doin's, Squids will be recording a live album on 11/13 at recordBAR with a limited audience. All but a handful of the songs will be new as we forego the sherpa-climb of traditional studio tracking for a Land Speed Frampton approach to new material. Here's the link to buy tickets.
This is actually recordBAR's first proper indoor show, limited to 50 folks with social distancing measures in place.

I watched the MSSV album release livestream from Big Ears Festival last night--the first online event of that kind that I've parked myself long enough to enjoy. It was really well done and the players remoting in from different settings was trippy and resonant like an ambient avant film, almost.

I am writing in quarantine (9 more days!), which required Squids to miss last night's Lemonade Park gig. Ugh. But pleased to announce our socially-distanced, limited-ticket live-album recording show at recordBAR on Friday 11/14. Limited tickets w/ info HERE.
As always you can buy the latest vinyl LP at Bandcamp while we prep a bunch of new songs for this live date. Doing it backwards. Live album first. There will be no "but what does it sound like live?" questions on this one!
